INTRODUCTION
Doulos Discovery School was founded equip future leaders through
discipleship and experiential learning to serve and equip the Dominican
Republic for Christ
CURRICULUM
We have a U.S. curriculum, with a strong emphasis in experiential
(hands-on) learning. We are implementing a model by Outward Bound
called Expeditionary Learning (www.elob.org)
STAFF
Half of our teachers are from North America and the other half are
from our community of Jarabacoa. All are degreed professionals.
FACILITIES
Our school sits on four beautiful acres in the middle of town. Our
campus boasts a soccer field, a sand volleyball court and basketball
court. We have classrooms in three different buildings, separated
by grade.
SCHOOL YEAR AND SCHOOL DAY
Our school year begins mid-August and we finish early June. Our
school day is from 8:00am - 3:00pm.
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
We believe children learn best by doing and we facilitate a myriad
of opportunities for hands-on learning. We also believe that leaders
can be equipped from all social classes. 50% of our students are
from very low econonic resources and recieve an almost 100% scholarship.
The social mixing creates compassion across the classes.
